Both Peter and Alex worked together with engineers in the UK to overcome some challenging issues. The biggest challenge was how to get the 1000m length of cable at 40kg/m 5m in the air in an automated fashion. After 2 years of travelling back and forth to the North of England, the $2 million machine was put into action and reduce the labour requirement from 40 to 5 men.
After hauling the cable into the tunnel, the machine lifts it into place and sags it perfectly ready to go live.
